Match Report

And so to the final league game of the Under 13 season.
For the second time this season the result was decided on the last ball of the match. However on this occasion, the result went our way and with it our first win of the season!

With an overcast sky it was touch and go whether we would get a game in, but despite a minor shower, we played 20 overs each.
Winning the toss, Ed made a good decision to bat first bearing in mind the dark conditions. Despite a solid start we lost wickets at regular intervals and only 2 of our players reached double figures.

Defending a total of 76, our bowling was nothing short of exceptional. At the turnaround I asked the boys to bowl tight and give nothing away. They exceeded my expectations and didn’t concede a wide until the 16th over.
Needing 2 to win from the last ball James Barritt clean bowled their last batsmen to bring on wild celebrations in the Brixworth ranks!
The difference between the teams was the number of wides and no balls conceded by the 2 teams (Brixworth 5 / St Crispins 17).

Special mentions Tom Kirk for an outstanding stop in the outfield to save a boundary, Ben Garwood for some much needed runs down the order, superb keeping by James Haycock (only 3 byes conceded), 2 wickets in the last over by James Barritt, 3 wickets each to Ahad & George, field settings and economical bowling by Ed Hillard.
