Grange Park U11s - 251-9 wickets (net score of 206)

Brixworth started well, restricting the first pair to 9 runs but taking 3 wickets , a superb run out with William Clarke throwing back to the bowler James Henry who removed the bails, James then bowled out a Grange Park batsman and Toby Haxby bowling out another batsmen in the following over.

The second pair were again restricted to just 8 runs but the Brixworth boys did even better taking 4 wickets, Toby Haxby with 2 more including a great dive for a caught and bowled (giving him figures of 3-1-7-3), William Clarke also taking 2 wickets both bowled.

The 3rd pair scored 14 runs and lost the 1 wicket, William Clarke with another bowled giving him match figures of 3-2-5-3 backed up by some good bowling on debut by Julius Sha.

The final Grange Park batters ran quickly putting pressure on the fielders but we saw some super diving stops notably Toby on the boundary twice. James Henry took another wicket with a caught and bowled giving him figures of 3-1-3-2.

The Final pair of Robert Vizor and Toby Haxby also batted well with an unbeaten partnership of 23, Robert with 9 not out including 2 boundaries, Toby with 1 not out.

RESULT : Brixworth won by 70 runs

Positives :

Great teamwork with lots of encouragement.

Good bowling with few extras conceded

100% with catching, 2 chances , both taken.

Intelligent batting, defending the good balls and attacking anything loose.

Things to work on :

During the final Grange Park pair, fielding became sloppy when the batsmen put pressure on with some good backing up by non striker giving them quick singles. Added to that a loose  throw and not backing up in the field meant a quick single became 5 runs. It is important to maintain concentration levels throughout.

Scoring on the offside. When the ball is bowled outside the off stump we see a lot of playing and missing as batters are tring to hit back to the legside. We will work on cutting the ball in the next training session.

Finally still not enough of the non striker backing up, from the umpires position I could see a possible 10-12 more runs that were missed.

Thank Yous
