Match Report

Sunday 19th June saw Brixworth U11s entertain ONs U11s at the Dallas Buston Cricket Ground.

Captain James Henry won the toss and elected to field on a warm, sunny morning.

League rules all team start on 200 with 5 runs lost per wicket

ONs - 309-3 (net 294)

1st pair scored 24 runs and lost 1 wicket, James Henry taking a catch off his own bowling.

2nd pair scored 26 and lost 1 wicket, Toby Haxby with some smart fielding and an excellent run out.

3rd pair scored 15 without loss.

Final pair scored 29 and lost 1 wicket, James Henry again the wicket taker with a clean bowled.

Brixworth U11 270-3 (net 255)

1st pair of Oliver Savage (1) and Jasper Cooper (1) , scored 8 runs but each were out caught.

2nd pair of James Henry (3) and Wiilliam Clarke (4 not out) scored 21 runs with the loss of 1 wicket.

3rd pair of Robert Vizor (13 not out) and Tom Moxon (1 not out) scored 21 runs without losing a wicket, highlight being a boundary for Robert.

Final pair of Toby Haxby (10 not out) and Adam Tame (1 not out) scored 15 in an unbroken partnership.

RESULT : ONs won by 39 runs

Positives:

- Batting: against the best bowling attack we have faced this season we only lost 3 wickets. This was down to playing straight when required and defending their wickets.

- Fielding: Some great chases and some brave stops, noticably Adam trying to take a return catch off a fiercely struck shot and saving 2 runs.

- Bravery : As mentioned Adam taking a blow on the arm and carrying on but also Toby Haxby (Man of Match) taking a blow on the shoulder when batting against their quickest bowler and then coming back and hitting him for 2 then 4.

Areas to work on :

Bowling : wides and no balls cost us dearly with 17 conceded (34 runs). Very frustrating as in the warm up no one bowled a wide??? Accuracy was inconsistent also with balls bowled on leg stump or just outside regularly getting punished with boundaries.

Fielding : Although we saw some good stops and a run out the fielding was not as sharp as recent weeks with 4 run out opportunities missed as well as 2 probable catches hitting the ground without a hand laid on the ball. Apart from 1 or 2 of the team it was very quiet in the field and walking in stopped after the first 3 overs.

THANK YOUS

Paul Moxon for being kind enought to supply Coffee/Tea and Bacon rolls.

Will Haxby for scoring.

Will and Toby H, Adam and Jonathan T, Adam and Jasper C for helping return the covers onto the adult wicket.

Everyone else who attended for coming along and supporting the team.

Thanks

Martin
