• Women's and Girls and Juniors starting this week

Posted by Andrew Dale on 22 April 2021

    Hi all,

We are starting Women and Girls tomorrow at 6.15pm, Juniors are starting on Friday at 6.15 or 6.00 depending on age group.

Can all participants bring hand sanitiser, their own drinks and their own equipment. Under 7s need not bring bats and balls.

Due to the numbers of juniors on Friday we are staggering starts and asking parents to stay in specific areas, this sounds a little like being corralled but it seemed the best way from the club to avoid breaking national guidelines.  As rules change in May we hope to relax these.

When we have finished the sessions we sadly have to ask parents to take their junior players home and leave the site, we don't want to do this but having procedures to socially distance 150 4-15 year olds isn't something we feel we can achieve, again in May we hope that National guidelines will allow us to have all the kids' playing on the outfield and parent enjoying a Burger and Beer at the same time.

The numbers on Thursdays are much lower so these measures are not needed.

    5 entrances
    •    Minis – (6.15 start) - Tennis Courts – to pitch gate in front of clubhouse – Parentzone – In front of clubhouse
    •    U9s – (6.00 Start) Archway to pitch gate in front of clubhouse -  Parent Zone on Bank by Nets
    •    U11s – (6.15 start) by gate next to carpark park entrance and fence gate in front of bank – Parent zone on Bank by access road
    •    U13s –  (6.00 starts ) 6 bar gate on drive and over style in fence Parent Zone in front of Castle
    •    U15’s (6.00 start) Tennis Court Entrance and walk around pitch to Flagpoles – Parent Zone in front of Flagpoles

The bar is open on Thursday so we can trial selling drinks before we take on the larger groups on Fridays (150 kids and possibly 150 parents!!) Parents are welcome to bring their own food and drink on Fridays until the bar is open.

Can we also ask that those of you driving to the site only park in the carpark behind the clubhouse or in the paddock, please avoid parking in front of the gates or on the access road.

On Thursdays Women and Girls that are signed up for Fridays may want to consider trying Thursdays girls only sessions. Bring Mum along too!!!

    See you later this week

  • Women, Girls, Juniors sessions postponed to next week.

Posted by Andrew Dale on 13 April 2021

    Hi

this is an message that we would rather not deliver but unfortunately the weather gods have not been kind over the last 10 days and the ground hasn't had enough rain and sun to get the grass to grow sufficiently to be able to play on it.

This means that this Thursday and Friday we cant play on the grass at the club. Consequently Women and Girls cricket will start on 22nd April and Juniors on the 23rd April.

We are really sorry to do this but playing on the grass now will only result in having to cancel later sessions to allow it to recover properly.

Best regards and see you all soon!

  • Start dates for the 2021 Junior and Women's and Girl's season

Posted by Andrew Dale on 8 April 2021

    Hi all,

The Juniors and Womens and Girls committees would like to welcome you to the start of the 2021 cricket season at Brixworth. We are excited and ready to welcome everyone back to the Dallas Burston ground.

We have had to push back the start date of both sessions to Thursday 15th and Friday 16th April as the ground is not quite ready, extensive work has been done over the break but pitch renovations are not quite ready due to some poor weather.

We will be starting next week and will confirm again by email and on social media. There is a small chance that we may have to push back to the 22nd and 23rd but we are praying to the sun gods for more sun to get the grass bedded in!

If you have not yet registered please can you do so and pay your membership fees online, all members have had several emails about payment  so you should have the details. If you don't please contact me on andrewdale1971@gmail.com.
